Rockwell Collins selected for Phase 3 of DARPA Mesodynamic program

When lightning strikes, thunder follows. Can light-to-sound phenomena like this be harnessed in optical fibers or waveguides the size of a human hair?

Sandia National Laboratories and Rockwell Collins are going to find out. They have been selected for Phase 3 of the DARPA Mesodynamic Architectures program. The aim of the program is to research light-to-sound conversion in ultra-small optical waveguides and develop future system capabilities beyond those attainable with existing technology.

Rockwell Collins sells military ground-based satellite communications portfolio

Rockwell Collins, Inc. (NYSE: COL) today announced it has completed the sale of its satellite communications business. The business, which designs, manufactures and services ground-based satellite communication systems primarily for military customers, will be renamed DataPath, Inc.

Lion Air selects Rockwell Collins avionics for 234 Airbus A320s

Rockwell Collins today announced that the largest carrier in Indonesia—Lion Air—has selected a comprehensive suite of avionics, including the MultiScan™ Threat Detection System and GLU-925 Multi-Mode Receiver (MMR), for 234 Airbus A320 aircraft. Lion Air’s selection is one of the largest avionics orders by one airline in Rockwell Collins’ history.

Rockwell Collins wins new contract for common use check-in platform at Monterrey International Airport

Rockwell Collins announced that Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA) has signed a five year contract to install the company’s ARINC vMUSE Enterprise™ common use check-in platform in Terminal A of Monterrey Airport, Mexico’s fourth largest airport. Under the terms of the agreement, Rockwell Collins will also install its ARINC SelfServ Enterprise™ common use kiosk software on hosted kiosks located at the airport’s main check-in areas.

Rockwell Collins announced today that it will enhance its presence and investment in the U.K. with a new center of excellence in Reading, U.K., to support its commercial and military customers. Rockwell Collins and Elbit Systems of America deliver F-35 Gen III Helmet Mounted Display System for software integration

The Rockwell Collins ESA Vision Systems, LLC, Gen III Helmet Mounted Display System (HMDS), which provides unprecedented situational awareness for fighter pilots, has been delivered to Lockheed Martin for software integration into the F-35 Lightning II aircraft. The Gen III HMDS will be integrated into Low Rate Initial Production 7 for the F-35 program.
